Brian Moynihan, chairman of the board and CEO of Bank of America and Notre Dame Law School graduate, sits down with Jack Brennan, chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, to discuss the current confluence of historic crises and their impact on the financial services sector.

Moynihan participates in several organizations that focus on economic and market trends, including the World Economic Forum International Business Council, the Financial Services Forum and the Bank Policy Institute (chair of both), the Business Roundtable, and the American Heart Association CEO Roundtable (co-chair). He is also a member of the Federal Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Bank.
Moynihan leads the company’s Global Diversity and Inclusion Council and is a member of the museum council for the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. Moynihan is also a member of the Brown University Corporation's Board of Fellows and the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation Board.
Jack Brennan is the chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees. He is chairman emeritus and senior advisor of Vanguard, one of the world’s largest investment companies. Headquartered in Malvern, Pennsylvania, Vanguard currently has more than $6 trillion in assets under management. Mr. Brennan joined the company in July 1982. He was elected president in 1989, served as chief executive officer from 1996 to 2008, and served as chairman of the board from 1998 to 2009.
Mr. Brennan is a director of Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, American Express Company, and Rockefeller Capital Management; a founding trustee of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST); chairman of Vanguard Charitable; co-founder and Chair of Catholic Investment Services; a member of the Pennsylvania Early Learning Investment Commission and Co-chairman of ReadyNation’s CEO Task Force on Early Childhood.
He graduated from Dartmouth College with an AB degree, and received an MBA from the Harvard Business School. Mr. Brennan is married to Catharine J. Brennan. Mrs. Brennan graduated from Dartmouth College with an AB degree, and received her master’s degree from Harvard Graduate School of Education. She is the president of College Perspectives. They have three children who are graduates of Notre Dame: William (’06), Kara (’08), and Conor (’11), as well as two daughters-in-law, Nicole (’06) and Catherine (’11) who are ND graduates as well.
